I can only guess It is not possible to install it using the IBM adapter and diskette, but it is possible using add-ons from other vendors. The IBM rationale for reserving the B: drive was so that you could still perform a copy from A: to B:, with B: being a 3.5" drive. There are three or four vendors who provide external 5.25" drives, either 360KB or 1.2meg versions, and most of them get installed as the B: drive.
