Keywords: compression, stuff-it, double up, alladin, disk doubler Sender: Miles W Organization: Rochester Institute of Technology Date: Thu, 11 Apr 91 16:05:36 GMT Sigma Designs recently annnounced the release of a new product for Mac II style machines. For about $250, you get a Nu-Bus card and a special version of DiskDoubler, that enables real-time (or almost, real time) compression. I am interested in the card, called Double-Up, for archiving. But I am hesitant to buy it due to some of the limitations of DiskDoubler. Currently StuffIt is still the compression method of choice for BBS's and the InterNet (with compactor close behind). If I am going to shell out money for a card like this, I need it to work with StuffIt, or at least StuffIt Deluxe (I am a register StuffIt Classic owner). So the question...Is Alladin going to make an interface for the card..or are they making their own card? - Miles Weissman Printing & Applied Comp Sci Rochester Institute of Technology
