I used HeapFixer to set the system heaps on all of them. I set them above recommended amounts to make crashes unlikely. Today, two of them crashed. When I checked the heaps, they were set to 80k larger than normal, which is how they usually are before resetting. A third machine, which had not crashed, was also set to 80k, though I had set it to 512k larger than normal only a few weeks ago when I installed a hard disk and new system. Two of the Macs are SEs and one is a IIci. My II and an SE had their heaps set to large values. The question is: what could cause the system heaps to be reset? I haven't installed new systems on these machines since resetting their heaps. What other action on a user's part could cause the heaps to be reset? I'm mystified.
