Message-ID: <1991Apr13.134057.3423@waikato.ac.nz> Date: 13 Apr 91 13:40:57 +1200 Organization: University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand Lines: 23 I've got both 7.0b4 and 6.0.7 on my hard disk. I have my screen configured to come up in colour when I boot up with 7.0b4 ('cos it looks nicer), and black-and-white when I start up 6.0.7 ('cos it's faster for when I want to do some *real* work...). Your screen settings are stored in the "scrn" resource in the System file. The odd thing is, the display card also seems to remember its setting from the last time I ran "Monitors" (which would have been under 7.0b4). Thus, when I boot up 6.0.7, the initial "Welcome to Macintosh" screen is in colour, including the "Cool Mac" icon. Then it suddenly switches to black-and-white, before the march of the INIT (sorry, Extension) icons begins. And this consistently happens every time I boot up 6.0.7. Anyone else noticed this? I'm running a vintage slowpoke Mac II with a moderate number of INITs, no virtual memory capability, and far too little hard disk.
