I don't think so.  (1) or (2) are equally unlikely.  There is really no way
of knowing.  If someone comes up with a business case for either this may
change.

Besides, I believe there are either commercial or publicly available products
which accomplish this emulation better than the "-t" option.  This should
go in the FAQ.
