My doctor says I am a good candidate for a cochlear implant. My insurance company (CIGNA, provided by my employer) agrees and will pay for a large part of the procedure. (Specifically, they pay for the surgery and post op care, but NOT the hardware.) I have elected not to have the implant, since I have some residual hearing in one ear and the sound quality of the 22-channel implant would not be acceptable to me. I am extremely fond of music (what I can hear of it anyway) and I feel that the quality of sound from an implant would limit my enjoyment of what I can hear. -- Uucp: ..!{decvax,oliveb}!bunker!hcap!hnews!202!501!Frank.Hicinbothem Internet: Frank.Hicinbothem@f501.n202.z1.fidonet.org
