Message-ID: <1991Apr15.211953.5574@hellgate.utah.edu> Date: 16 Apr 91 03:19:53 GMT Organization: University of Utah CS Dept Lines: 25 This is my first posting to these newsgroups. I've got a bunch of B&W and greyscale scanned images that I need to massage into clean 640x480x16 greyscale GIF's. The scan software is AppleScan running on a Mac IIcx. It'll give me the images in MacPaint, PICT or TIFF form. I've tried the PC programs TIFF2GIF (doesn't recognize the TIFF type) and GIFconvert (no cropping or cleaning and reverses the colors). I've tried the packages mentioned in the FAQ (PBM, Utah RLE, Xim, TIFF utilities) and due to my newness to X I've been unable to compile them on the IBM RS/2000's (AIX and Motif) I have access to at school. Can anyone help me? I need something that will run on a PC with VGA, a Mac II, or run or compile straight on the RS/2000. Or I could use some help getting Xim to compile on the RS. It seem to be exactly what I need, if I could just get it to compile. Thank You. Mark Atwood matwood@peruvian.utah.edu
