I am sure this topic has been discussed at length in the past.
Perhaps someone could point me to some file posted somewhere
comparing existing midi hardware configurations for the MAC.

Also.. i read sometime back that there were some timing problems
with midi on an MAC IIfx.  Where may I learn about the solution
to the problem?
