The current 4.3BSD routed (maybe tahoe, certainly reno) allows you to put
more than 1 interface on the same IP host number.  That is, SLIP works fine
for us, with the ethernet interface and the point-to-point SLIP interface
using the same network/host number.  There are a few improvements to routed
that can be made to improve things in this situation, but they're fairly
obvious.
