Uh, I'm pretty sure that the NeXTstation Color uses 16 bit pixels, with 12 bits of direct color (4R, 4G, 4B) and 4 bits of "alpha". I'm not sure what the alpha is used for; there's no capability of mixing with an external video source. And there's no color palette at all.
