Leonard Tramiel (I don't know if he is head of R & D or not) has less authority than Alwin Stumph. If Alwin thinks that the TT should have a 68040, then he will convince Jack and the R & D team. I very much doubt what Leonard said. I think that eventually, Atari will be forced to use the 040. They cannot wait for the 050. They should not go to Intel because of architecture inferiority and incompatibility with their Motorla 68k line. The could and are going RISC. Atari U.K is developing a RISC computer. But I still think there will be a need for an 040 to bridge the gap. S.S.
