PDL saves the state of the environment when you exit, and restores it when you restart PDL. Try using the View menu HP 48 Immediate Window command to open the Immediate window (or just press Shift+F7). > The immediate window execution is much slower than with kermit; there > is disk activity with each cr even though I have PCKWIK disk caching. > > Is there a way to turn off the disk activity? The HP 48 Immediate window operates more slowly the very first time you use it in a PDL session, because PDL is making sure the HP 48 is ready for the interaction. After the first successful transfer, the Immediate window is much faster. There are a number of things you can do to improve the Immediate window's performance and to reduce or eliminate hard disk access. Look under "Contents", then "Transferring Data with the HP 48", then "Minimizing Transfer Time" in the PDL Help system. In particular, note tips regarding these areas: o HP 48 stack o RAM disk > Thanks. > -- > David Feustel, 1930 Curdes Ave, Fort Wayne, IN 46805, (219) 482-9631 > EMAIL: netcom.com Hope this helps.
