I thought it is done by the IWM anyway. So very little software (and thus control from the cpu) would be necessary to do it. But on the other side I'm quite aware that guys at apple any time since the apple I liked the idea of doing anything under control of the cpu. I wonder if I got anything wrong on that matter...
