You can make your own 48x48 TIFF icons and include them under the directory where you want to see your icon. All you need to do is call the TIFF file ".dir.tiff" (no quotes). You can also include a ".opendir.tiff" that will be used as the alternate image (i.e. when you drag another icon into it for moving or copying). You can also use larger TIFF files (greater than 48x48). Workspace will scale it to fit in a 48x48 grid but you'll lose some detail.
