, have zou heard about VPIC ? This programm can convert nearly all
  types of pictures.... (i think it's now release 2.6 or something like that)

  VPIC runs ONLY (!) with VGA, and you can get a shareware version for the
  Mac II (i used it recently on a Mac IIfx with color) and it worked !!!
  I converted scan-Gifs from the Mac on my PC and vice-versa.
