Newsgroups: comp.dcom.fax Subject: Need advice on fax/modems for MS-Dos machines Message-ID: <1991Apr24.022143.7771@ariel.unm.edu> Date: 24 Apr 91 02:21:43 GMT Organization: University of New Mexico, Albuquerque Lines: 28 To those who are full of wisdom and wish to share it, I'm considering buying a fax/modem to put in my MS-Dos pc but don't know much about faxing in general; I'm quite comfortable using a modem however. Would someone please explain the differences between the different fax classes ie what's the difference between a class 2 fax machine and a class 3 fax machine; also how many classes are there; what are the compatibilities between the classes? Any brand recommendations would be appreciated along with brands to stay away from; I would like to be able to send and receive both text and graphics. Recommendations for fax software would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dom P.S.: Thanks for the patience of those who have probably already seen this type of question a million times and tolerate it without being snotty about it. . -- +-------------------------------+ | Dominic Caffey, | | University of New Mexico, USA | +-------------------------------+
