I got the server working with the MIT X distribution, but the colormaps weren't right when I ran the demos. I suspect they made some platform-dependant assumptions about colormaps, but I couldn't take the time to track it down. I made some substantial changes to some of the code to get it to work. If you'd like, I could send you a diff file with the changes.
