Subject: book needed for self study

Hello there,
            Last year in a Borland Roundtable (discussing C++) Bjarne
Stroustrup indicated that he thought that C++ would be a better first
language to learn than C (given a choice between only these two).
My question is this: Does a self-study book helping to teach the C++
language exist that does not presume a knowledge of C?  If so could
someone leave send me a bibliographic citation so I could pick this
book up?
