It takes time for the old IP address to age out of local cache, so the users may be using the host name and dns, but getting some old data from their local server. A good thing to do when you are going to change an IP address is to set a short TTL for the A RR some time in advance of the change, so ti will age out more quickly and the old data will be replaced with the new RR with a normal TTL.
