Just FTR (for the record), Mac screen updates can be very quick with the right graphics card. My friend at SuperMac showed me their 24-bit graphics accelerator card, and it could do 24-bit updates faster than the A3000 does 4-bit updates on the Workbench. The speed difference was very noticable. Of course, you have to $$pay$$ for that kind of speed, but it does exist for Macs.
