I'm just getting into playing FA/18 Interceptor, and I'm in the qualification
stage, where you have to land on the carrier.

I'm getting quite frustrated doing this. I actually landed twice, but the
game never gave me credit for doing so. The plane just sat there on the
deck. Granted, it was not a pretty landing.

Does it matter which direction you land from? What is the key to passing the
qualification?

Also during this qualification, I've been attacked (which the manual warns
about). However, the manual is very vague about how to use the weapons.

What do the target and range keys do? The target one puts up a box on the HUD -
do I have to line the enemy plane up in that box to shoot it down?
