I had this problem on my 500's internal drive, but then I discovered that it
was caused by interference from my 1084sd monitor.  I opened up the case, and
put aluminum foil around the disk drive to act as a shield from the monitor
interference.  The only READ/WRITE errors I get now are from disks that are
truly bad, ie: my external drive can't read them either.
