IBM AT power supplies do not provide the 60Hz TICK signal needed for the A1000 to boot. As I understand the A500 and A2000 have ways of working arround this. I was transfering my A1000 into a baby AT case for more headroom (I had an Insider RAM expansion board, a Kwickstart board, and was adding an AdIDE controller) and ran into this problem. I got around it by building an optoisolated TICK generator off of the AC line but others who do not have the technical skills may run into trouble.
