It's supposed to protect selected partitions of your HD, or floppies from being read from/written to. I tried it out on a couple of floppy disks, and a relatively unimportant (and recently backed-up!) partition on the HD. It seems to work fairly well. I'm worried about the way it operates, however. It seems to zero out the main directory (but not the bitmap). Writes to disk produce an error $51 (directory structure damaged). Testing it in Prosel-16 results in a "backward link" on the root directory, plus the expected "There are 59456 blocks free marked used. Show them?" Security sounds like a neat utility, but I don't want to take the chance that it will munge my hard drive because of a glitch or programming oversight. So far it has worked as advertised (both protecting and restoring volumes). Any comments? Brian T.
