I am the proud (?) owner of a DEC VAX 11/730 running VMS. I am having considerable difficulty with it now. Whenever I attempt to boot it up, the screen comes up fine, but when time to input data, it refuses to recognize anything. I've tried everything -- different terminals with varying emulations, even hardwiring a PC to it == still no go. My question is threefold: 1) is this the appropriate conference to be posting this query. if not, where? 2) what hardware has gone bad? 3) is there anyway I can acquire a boot tape that would bypass the need for console input upon boot and initialize a remote port? Thanks in advance.
