I've breifly thought about how to do this. I've never tried it, but how about this: Ahead of time, get a freshly formatted DOS floppy and either dd or cat the contents onto an HPUX file. This saves the file system data. When you need a DOS formatted floppy, mediainit it with the proper switches to create 512 byte sectors (mediainit -f2 -i2 for a 9122, I think). Then, dd or cat your previous "file system" file back to the floppy. This wouldn't spare any bad sectors, but I think it would work. I'd love to get a copy of your article, if that's possible.
