Now I'm not quite sure which one to purchase. Both monitors use the Sony Trinitron picture tube and will operate non-interlaced at 1024x768 resolution. The Sony has the controls on the side and the Viewsonic has them in the front. I did notice some things about the Viewsonic that do concern me. 1.) It appeared that the tube didn't have the same anti-glare coating as the Sony. 2.) When in windows, a pin-cushioning was apparent in the corners of the screen. I didn't notice this on a Sony. 3.) When changing pictures, windows, etc., I noticed the Viewsonics picture would grow or shrink depending on the brightness of the display presented. For example, simply changing from a picture with a light to a dark background caused this symptom. Are items 2 and 3 due to poor voltage regulation in the Viewsonic? The Viewsonic costs less than the Sony but am I getting a monitor that's not as well built as the Sony. The difference in cost is $50. I'm aware that the common element is the tube, not necessarily the supporting electronics. -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Ken Roser - WA2VCI - mtgzy!ker - AT&T Bell Laboratories - 908-957-5822 ----------------------------------------------------------------------
