DV was dog slow as it seemed to use some of the above memory for itself and took 4 -6 seconds for disk access at times! Telling qemm to leave the top 2 MB did not work either. On trying to use this remaining 2MB for a cache Qemm allocated 'Xtended memory' from its Xpanded pool leaving the 2MB up top. As I really wanted 1.4MB ramdisk and .6MB Cache I loaded Smartdrv above Qemm, this only had the effect of scrambling the fat table! I have settled for a 2Meg reamdisk using Ramdrive.sys before Qemm. device=c:\sys\Ramdrive.sys 2048 512 1024 /e DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM I=F000-F7FF X=C700-DFFF DISKBUF=16 NW3 shell =c:\dos\command.com/p /e:512 device=c:\qemm\loadhi.sys /r:1 c:\OPUS\Gateway1.sys DEVICE=C:\QEMM\LOADHI.SYS /R:1 C:\OPUS\x00.sys T=2048 E FIFO=15 FILES=50 BUFFERS=5 LASTDRIVE=Z FCBS=16,8 There are probably a few more bits that can be tidied up given time. regards Murray --- msged 2.05 * Origin: GenBOARD, A genealogy BBS: Wgtn,NZ (64)(4)4990-490 (3:771/160)
