You are only required to pay $49 to Claris if you want > written documentation in addition to the software Well, that was the story when 2.0 was first released, but at this point you have to pay the $49 if you want the bug-fixed 2.0v2 and if you want to have any hope of getting any future upgrades at a reasonable price. And, the $49 may be expiring at the end of this month. All of the reasonable aspects of the release were made to appease the howling fury of the mob after the move to Claris was so rudely announced. Now that the furor has died down, they realize that we're all so tired of the subject that they c an do whatever they want from now on. Actually, you can also get the bug-fix for free, supposedly, if you spring for the long distance phone call to Claris customer support, and are very, very lucky. I made several phone calls, finally got through to a human, and requested my upgrade. Also had to pay for the representative giving me a sales pitch on the $49 deal and warning me that this was absolutely the last free upgrade. After waiting for about a month and a half I got an envelope from Claris. It contained an upgrade to FileMaker Pro. Well, it's nice to know that at least I'll be getting that great Claris support for the 49 bucks that I finally broke down and sent them. I've already received an advertisement from the folks who publish Reports, so I guess Claris got my order. I wonder how long it will take for me to get software from them. I wonder what software it will be... -- Barry Chern via cmhGate - Net 226 fido<=>uucp gateway Col, OH UUCP: ...!osu-cis!n8emr!cmhgate!20.19!Barry.Chern INET: Barry.Chern@p19.f20.n226.z1.FIDONET.ORG
