Request: Quantum 105 Meg HD for an SE Message-ID: <3784@ux.acs.umn.edu> Date: 19 Apr 91 06:48:46 GMT Organization: University of Minnesota, Academic Computing Services Lines: 37 I'm beginning to run extremely low on HD space and figure it would be a good idea to grab myself a 105 Meg Quantum before they're all gone. I'm sure many of the netters have already taken advantage of the deal, so I asking some advice on which place to buy from. Price-wise, here are the top five mail-order houses listed in the May issue of MacUser: 1. Hard Drives International 2. Wholesale 54 3. MacTel 4. Alliance Peripheral Systems 5. MacLand Has anybody bought a Quantum (or anything) from these companies? I'm particularly interested, of course, on which ones to stay away from. I'm leaning towards W54, which lists the same price ($349) as HDI but with faster access times (12ms/19ms). If you have been a satisfied customer of a company not listed above, I would like to hear it. Also, if you've dropped one of these into an SE, I would appreciate some info. on how much of a problem it was and any tips that might make the experience less troublesome. Email me, please, and I'll post a summary if there is enough of a demand.
