If it's any consolation, with some companies, I actually got
product upgrade notices and tip sheets when I turned in my registration
(and with Alladin/StuffIt, they even sent me an upgrade disk once
without me asking for it and without charging me for it!)
I don't remember how I got started with Central Point Software, but
I must say, their tech support people are nice about answering letters.

(Graduate student and unconnected with Alladin nor CPS other than being
a more or less satisfied customer...)
