The San Diego Supercomputer Center has just released software for
converting among a number of graphic file formats including
GIF and SGI RGB. By anonymous ftp from sdsc.edu.

There is also and Iris GIF viewer available in both binary and
C source from iris1.ucis.dal.ca.
