I'm having trouble building Epoch3.2 on a Sun SPARCstation IPC running SunOS4.1.1 (preinstalled) with OpenWindows 2.0. The problem is that the Sun supplied libX11 seems to be available only as a shared library - there are only .so and .sa files, no .a file in the lib directories. As a result I can't build temacs (which needs the -Bstatic link option). Do I have to build the MIT X server in order to build epoch (I would assume this applies to the generic X version of emacs too)? Argh. Are there any other gochyas that I should know about when building Epoch for this configuration? I recall that there's a malloc related bug in SunOS - do I need to #undef SYSTEM_MALLOC or #define it? =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Eschew Obfuscation.
