I've often wondered if there is a "Mail" feature of which I'm unaware which
would allow me to include a .signature type file in my letters automatically.

I've used systems which allowed a "letterhead" file. Is there anything similar
under "Mail"?

Perhaps someone has a front-end to "Mail" which would append (prepend) a
file to each letter.

If anyone has an affirmative answer to any of these questions, I'd find it
useful.
