I am trying to build GCC 1.39 on SYSV/386 Release 4.0.  There are configuration
files in the distribution for it, and it compiles successfully, but as soon as
I try to use the compiler (even for compiling stage2 of GCC), it generates
assembly assembly code that the AT&T assembler chokes on.

Am I missing something obvious?
