BUT ... Message-ID: <1991Apr19.073124.1237@sbcs.sunysb.edu> Date: 19 Apr 91 07:31:24 GMT Sender: usenet@sbcs.sunysb.edu (Usenet poster) Organization: State University of New York at Stony Brook Lines: 35 Just got an XGA for my 55sx. Took 7 weeks for delivery. The 1024x768x256 is great. And extremely fast. I have fewer problems with text file scrolling at 19200 now that the video driver can actually keep up with in coming text. But anyway, I have a new problem that I have been unable to decifer (sp?). I am no longer able to Run non-windows applications. I get a message from Program Manager : "Unexpected DOS error: 11." This happens in Enhanced Mode. Trying to even load in Standard mode causes a reboot. Real mode loads sometimes. I removed QEMM, Hyperdisk, ATM, 4DOS, and everything else that was being loaded before starting Windows. No difference. By editing SYSTEM.INI by hand and restoring the settings for the standard VGA driver everything works fine. Any ideas? Anyone else have an XGA working under Windows? What does the error mean? I looked at the Result Code from WinExec thinking that the result code was the error message. But an 11 from WinExec just means that (1) its not a windows app, or (2) the EXE header is corrupt. Neither of which makes much sense. Thanks for any assistance or insites you might be able to provide. -- - Jeff | Altmania Productions |================================| ~ ~ | 15 Yarmouth Lane | jaltman @ ccmail.sunysb.edu | * | * | Nesconset, New York | altman @ sbcs.sunysb.edu | \_____/ | 11767-1609 | 71530.3252 @ CompuServe.COM |
