The VGA board is by Boca (called BasicVGA, 256K, with Chips F82C451C). Also pertinent is the presence of a Western Digital WD8013EBT ethernet card. My problem goes away if I take this card out, but of course that's not useful in other contexts. I'm not planning to use Windows 3 over this network, so I installed Win3 with plain VGA video and no network. I suspect the video driver, since I don't have the problem if I switch the video to monochrome VGA or Hercules (ugly!). The problem looks like this. At arbitrary times, there's a little pop and a flicker on the screen, the cursor is gone, and the whole display goes to hell, either lots of vertical bars or just out. With the bar mess, I can altF to get out; with the blank screen, only a cold boot does it. I poked around cica looking for something that might speak to my problem, without success. I'm going to call Boca, but if anyone has a suggestion, I'd be glad to hear it. After all, how can I live without Solitaire? :-) <> A citizen of America will cross the ocean to fight for <> democracy, but won't cross the street to vote in a <> national election. -- Bill Vaughan -- Jess Anderson <> Madison Academic Computing Center <> University of Wisconsin Internet: anderson@macc.wisc.edu <-best, UUCP:{}!uwvax!macc.wisc.edu!anderson NeXTmail w/attachments: anderson@yak.macc.wisc.edu Bitnet: anderson@wiscmacc Room 3130 <> 1210 West Dayton Street / Madison WI 53706 <> Phone 608/262-5888
