My guess is the problem isn't a NNTP problem, but the configuration of
the sys-file (/usr/lib/news/sys) isn't queueing these articles for
transmission off-site.

Take a look at your sys-file, the manpages for it, and if nothing else,
try news.software.b, where b-news and c-news transport are discussed.

(Nice to see another VM-person having to deal with *nix... I just cobbled
a VM NNTPXMIT together, but it needs a lot of work.  Have you seen Paul
Paul Campbell's VM NNTP news-reader yet ?)
