It appears that my earlier hypothesis about the duplicate messages
(I've seen this primarily on BIONEWS/bionet.general) was incorrect.
Our hardware problem has been fixed but the duplicates still crop up
somewhat sporadically.  I am continuing to investigate and request
your indulgence for now.
