If it weren't for the nethack, I'd probably never, ever use vi... I'd be using ed(1) if emacs weren't available, really! Well, I actually _use_ ed sometimes when I'm on a slow line and want to do something that is easiest done with "s/foo/bar/", "/foo d" etc. Luckily, emacs _is_ available on all systems that I use... BTW, can you imagine a system where emacs is as snappy as ed?
