My Phone Bill it making me pore.. Then someone told me about Pc pur. that lets you use rent out a line for Unlimited calls for only like 30 to $40 a month. Does any one have any info on this ? I subscribed to PC Pursuit (offered by GTE/Sprint) for about six months and found it to be very worthwhile for 2400 baud data calls. If you make more than about 3 or 4 hours of calls per month it will save you lots of money. Here's the deal.... $30 a month gets you 30 hours of long distance data calls to selected cities; $50 gets you 60 hours. You can use it 24 hours a day, but between the hours of 7 am and 6 pm weekdays, you get charged $10 an hour of "prime time surcharge", which is still cheaper than AT&T's day rates. It's a great deal, but one caveat: you really have to use a windowed protocol such as Zmodem for file transfers or you'll be looking at 50% throughput. You also get substantially discounted rates to People/Link, which admittedly is a dying service but still has good downloads and bulletin boards at times depending on what you want. I only quit PC Pursuit because I didn't have time to make lots of BBS calls and as a result, AT&T's reach out america plan was actually slightly cheaper (I do about 2 or 3 hours of long distance BBSing per month now). To get information on subscribing, dial 1-800-TELENET. I think they've changed to another 800 number now but that one will tell you where to call for your specific question. Hope this helps.....
