I have not flown FA/18 Interceptor in a long time (I'm a Falcon driver
now) ;however, I do seem to remember having the same problem.  As I
recall you must land on the Aircraft carrier heading the right
direction.  I can't remember which direction this is, but obviously
it is one of the two possible angles.  I have gotten a lot of enjoyment
out of FA/18 Interceptor but I was never able to get past the submersable sub
mission.  If you make it past there let me know the secret.  The advice you
recieved about keeping your arrestor hook
down was also good advice.  As I begin to recall now, I used to spend a lot of
time driving around the carrier deck just getting the hook to catch so the
mission would end.  I hope this helps.
