Well, there is "DynaShow" on fish #285, which is a dynamic hires display program. (Together with an example pictures of some rocks), so I guess you could use that for viewing these things. In fact I think it's the same player as on DR3. As for converting GIF's, I'm not aware of anything around at the moment, but I was considering hacking around with the "pbmplus" programs so that they could generate dyna-hires pictures (and sliced ham as well for that matter, as they both use similar techniques).
