And there you don't have a different choice. Peter, NTSC is not 24 bits of display. I could not tell you what happens inside the DCTV, but I suspect it is a decoder and somehow they are able to encode 24 bit information in the header of the image. But the display is NTSC and NTSC is not 24 bits. NTSC color is a kludge to put color in a signal that was never designed to contain color information. If I remember correctly NTSC can only resolve something like 300,000 colors. That is not 24 bits. I am looking for a crad, which will come out some day, that will do RGB for under $500. The Mac has one, why not Amiga. Converting RGB to NTSC is no big deal. >You must have gotten something wrong. They do it exactly the other way >round, the easier way: they produce NTSC out of RGB. You have misunderstood me here. It is true that they convert an RGB signal to NTSC. However, it is some kind of clever encoding scheme. What I was saying is, that in the manual they are advertising a device that will take the output of the DCTV and turn it into RGB again, only decoded. How they will do this is a complete mystery to me, because they will be taking an inferior quality signal, NTSC and turning it into RGB. neil -- Only 3171 shopping days left till the next millenium!
