Lines: 20 Originator: pcl@lucrece.robots We have a VAX cluster, with a number of printers attached. We also have a few Suns, a DECsysttem 5500 and a Convex C120. The cluster runs VMS 5.4 and the other machines run various flavours of Unix. we are in the process of installing VAX-Ultrix Connection software on the cluster. The problem to be solved is enabling the Unix machines easily to send files to be printed on the VMS peripherals. Much the cleanest solution would be to run the "lpd" daemon on the cluster. We have source for the Unix version of lpd, but porting it to VMS looks like a major task. Does anyone know of an implementation of lpd under VAX/VMS? Source code would be especially nice. Please mail me, and I'll summarize responses to the net. Thanks in advance, Paul Leyland (pcl@convex.oxford.ac.uk by preference)
