We've finally convinced the managers of a local company that
WordPerfect is somewhat, ummm, "less than ideal" <grin> for editing
the large (up to 1 meg) ASCII text files that are often encountered
there.  They've started using a shareware version of QEdit, but are
looking to get something better.
   We're looking for constructive comments about Brief, VEDit, or
another editor (comparisons to QEdit would be welcome) which
satisfies the following criteria (listed in order of importance):

 * Should be able to edit multiple files, including cut and paste
   between files
 * Should be able to handle large files (500k - 1meg), with swapping
   to disk or extended or expanded memory
 * Should be comfortably quick, even when working with large files
 * Desqview compatibility is desirable, though not mandatory
   (must be able to work under DOS in any case)
 * Well-written manual, easy-to-use, with good customer support
