Summary: 224 or 288 directory entries? Message-ID: <5534@wucc.waseda.ac.jp> Date: 27 Apr 91 11:46:11 GMT References: Organization: The Centre for Informatics, WASEDA Univ. Lines: 11 My JapaneseIBM machine thinks the number of directories on a 1.44MB diskette is 224. But I remember someone said it was 288 on a PS/2 machine in U.S. Which is correct? And are the volume number and volume label indispensable in the boot sector? As I have nothing to do with US machines and do not peek this news group, will you please e-mail me for the info? ytsuji@cfi.waseda.ac.jp OR ytsuji@jpnwas00.BITNET Dr Y. Tsuji P.S. Are the info from 0x20 to 0x3f in the boot sector indispensable for the non-bootable disk? Thanks.
