The PC's modem port is an RS232. The cable you use to connect the two needs to have the send and receive pins switched. I believe this is a standard modem cable for the Mac, but don't hold me to that. There are two different Mac Mini Din-8 to RS232 cables. One is "for printers" and the other is "for modems"but I forget which one has the switched pins in it.
