I have ruled out the 12" because of the poor resolution. The other ones I am considering are the Sony 1304 HG, the Seiko 14" CM1445, the NEC 3D, and of course the AppleColor RGB. Would anyone with experience using these monitors or several of them please tell me how they look in terms of color accuracy and especially sharpness, regardless of price. Would anyone care to explain how the AppleColorGB with its 13" screen and the SeikoM1445 with a 14" screen can have 72dpi screens (actually the apple isdpi, I think) when they both display 640x480. It seems like the seiko should have a lower dpi since the same number of pixels are spread out over a wider area. That really confused me. Finally, I talked toe who hooked up his NEC3d to an adaptor he made himself so that, with the 512k VRAM installed, he could choose between 512x???? and 16bit color mode or highsolution and 8 bit color. sounded really interesting and he made it sound pretty simple. Does anyone know how you could do that or who might sell an adaptor or cable that does this? It seems like it shouldpossible with almost any monitor. I wonder if it is why hasn't Apple mentioned it. I suppose they would rather have us buy a 24 bit color card (preferably Apples). I wouldn't mind doing that except on an LC I can imagine 24-bit color (do they even have LC compatible color cards yet?) would be intolerably slow. I hear 16-bit is much faster and to the naked eye the ppictures seem almost identical. Of course, the lower resolution would degrade the quality, but it would be nice to be able to choose between both modes, depending on what your needs were. Oh well, sorry for ranting. Thanks for ANY information in advance.
