A friend of mine has SunOS 4.1.1 with Sun's C++ 2.0, with the 4.1 patch installed (the patch came with SunOS 4.1 release tapes). 2. Since SunOS 4.1.1 Release Manual does not mention C++, I assume that the patch is still in effect. 3. The C++ environment includes the dbx (dbx++?) debugger. 4. Trying to use it on a C++ program results in: dbx: fatal error: I/O error (or something to that effect). Dbx does not show any version number, but running 'strings' on it yields: ... 2.0FCS/4.0 (9/29/89 11:23)... 5. My questions are: a. Is statement #2 above correct ? b. Is there a patch for dbx++ ? c. What's the best C++ out there? I know of Sun's, AT&T's, GNU's and Saber's. Thanks in advance and e-mail to me, using the address below Amir J.
